BAU: Two men with previous criminal records were arrested in separate Op Dadu operations conducted at shop premises here yesterday (Mar 2).
Bau police chief DSP Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the suspects, aged 47 and 26, were detained during two raids carried out about 30 minutes apart along Jalan Joseph Valentine Cotter.
In the first operation at about 2.45pm, police arrested a 47-year-old man at a communication shop for allegedly acting as an agent facilitating online gambling top-ups.
“A Realme C63 smartphone and RM99 in cash were seized. Inspection of the mobile phone found evidence of online gambling registration activities,” he said.
About 30 minutes later, police conducted another raid at an eatery along the same road and arrested a 26-year-old man.
An Oppo A54 smartphone and RM105 in cash were confiscated.
Mohd Haide said the 47-year-old suspect has multiple past gambling-related records, while the younger suspect has previous drug and gambling offences.
Both were arrested under Section 4B(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
