MIRI: A man was injured after his motorcycle skidded off the road and plunged into a large drain near a petrol station in Lutong here today, prompting a swift response from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).

The incident occurred at around 12.55 pm and firefighters from the Lutong station were alerted to the accident, arriving at the scene within eight minutes.
Upon arrival, the operations commander confirmed that the victim, 26, was trapped inside the drain and required assistance to be safely extracted.
A rescue team, led by station chief, Henry Jugah, carried out a rapid size-up before working with medical personnel to retrieve the injured man.
The victim was successfully rescued and subsequently handed over to ambulance staff for further treatment at hospital.
He sustained injuries but was conscious at the time of rescue.
Firefighters completed the operations within minutes after ensuring the area was safe and posed no further risk to the public.
The team returned to base shortly after 1.15 pm.
