KUCHING: Immigration officers detained 37 foreign nationals during an enforcement operation in Demak and Lundu from Mar 3 to 4.
The operation by the Immigration Department’s Enforcement Division targeted several premises suspected of employing foreign workers without valid passes or work permits.
These included factories as well as food and beverage premises in Demak believed to be misusing social visit passes.

The operation later continued at night with raids on workers’ settlements at durian and oil palm plantations in Rambungan, Lundu.
All those detained were taken to the Immigration office for further action under immigration laws.
The department said enforcement operations would continue to curb the misuse of passes and the employment of undocumented foreign workers.
