KUCHING: In the spirit of Ramadan, around 2,000 packs of ‘bubur lambuk’ were handed out to the community near the iconic Datuk Patinggi Hajah Jumaani Bridge today.

The 2026 N8 Satok Bubur Lambuk Distribution Programme, which began at 3.00 pm, was officiated by Deputy Minister for Utility (Sarawak Energy and PETROS), Datuk Ibrahim Baki, Satok assemblyman who personally handed out packs of ‘bubur lambuk’ to residents.

The initiative aims to engage and support the local community, while strengthening the spirit of brotherhood, collaboration, and unity among various community organisations, security agencies, and volunteers involved during this blessed month of Ramadan.

Preparation for the programme involved a gotong-royong effort with around 50 volunteers from participating organisations.

During the distribution, volunteers and organisers positioned themselves near the Warung De Perantau, closest to the Datuk Patinggi Hajah Jumaani Bridge, so they could hand out packs of ‘bubur lambuk’ to drivers and passengers passing by.

Besides promoting the sharing of sustenance, the location allowed the programme to reach more people while also showcasing the bridge as a new city landmark, attracting attention and highlighting its role as a focal point for community activities.

In a statement, the Religious Bureau and Satok Service Centre said the organisers plan to make this an annual Ramadan event in Satok constituency, serving as a platform to strengthen ties between leaders, local communities, and social organisations.

Through this initiative, it is hoped that the values of togetherness, social concern, and unity will continue to be nurtured within the community, in line with the aspiration to build a harmonious and prosperous society.

For the record, the programme was organised by the Satok Service Centre, through its Religious Bureau and in collaboration with Rumpun Silat Sarawak (RSS) Kuching Region, Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) frontliners, and the Satok Youth Wing of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan 1447H.
