TYT receives courtesy call from Canadian High Commissioner

KUCHING: Sarawak and Canada are looking to further strengthen diplomatic relations and cooperation in economic, trade and sustainable development sectors.

This was among the key matters highlighted when Head of State (TYT) Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, together with his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, received a courtesy call from Jodi Robinson, the High Commissioner of Canada to Malaysia, at their official residence at Kasuma Resort, Petra Jaya on Tuesday (March 10) at 11am.

During the meeting, which lasted more than an hour, both parties exchanged views on several key matters, including Sarawak’s economic development, renewable energy potential, the history of the formation of Malaysia, the Malaysia Agreement 1963 as well as the country’s parliamentary system.

According to a statement posted on his Facebook, Wan Junaidi also shared various experiences from his time serving as a minister at the federal level.

He expressed hope that diplomatic relations and cooperation between Canada and Sarawak, particularly in the areas of economy, trade and sustainable development, will continue to strengthen for the mutual benefit of both sides.
