Floods: 341 people still taking shelter at relief centres in Kuching

KUCHING: The number of flood evacuees here has shown a declining trend, with a total of 341 people from 91 families currently taking shelter at two temporary relief centres (PPS) as of today.

The Civil Defence Force (APM) said both PPS remain operational following flooding in parts of the district.

The PPS at Dewan R-Piang, which was opened on Mar 10, is currently sheltering 116 evacuees from 24 families, with the number remaining unchanged.

Meanwhile, the Stapok Community Hall PPS is accommodating 225 evacuees from 67 families, with the number of displaced persons showing a decrease.

APM noted that the overall evacuation trend is decreasing, indicating that the flood situation in the affected areas is gradually improving
