KANOWIT: A 22-year-old man, who was reported missing in the forest near Sungai Penyulau here, was found safe today after a five-day search operation.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the victim, identified as Richard Lee Apang, was discovered about one kilometre from the Fire and Rescue control post at around 11.54 am.
He was found weak but conscious by the search and rescue (SAR) team during the operation conducted in the forest area behind a longhouse near Jalan Penyulau/Lukut.

“The victim had left the house on March 7 at about 4 pm without informing family members and was reported missing after failing to return home.
“Villagers had initially conducted their own search efforts in the surrounding forest but were unable to locate him,” said Bomba spokesperson.
The SAR operations, involving personnel from Bomba, police, the Civil Defence Force (APM) and villagers, resumed this morning using the fan-searching method.
After he was found, the victim was handed over to APM ambulance personnel and taken to Kanowit Hospital for further examination.
The operation was officially called off at about 1 pm.
