JULAU: The body of a man who had been missing for two days after going fishing in Sungai Kanowit at Nanga Sebuloh here was found this morning.

The victim, identified as 39-year-old Geoffrey Senah, had gone out to cast nets in the river using a boat at about 7 am on Wednesday (March 11).

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said he was later reported missing after failing to return home, while his boat was found drifting in the river with his belongings still inside.

Villagers began searching for the victim on Thursday morning but were unable to locate him.

“Residents of a nearby longhouse later discovered the victim at about 7.30 am today, approximately 100 metres from the location where he was believed to have been fishing,” said a Bomba spokesperson.

The body was brought to the riverbank before being handed over to police for further action.

The search and rescue operation, involving personnel from Bomba, police, the Civil Defence Force (APM), RELA and villagers, was ended at about 9.20 am.
