KOTA SAMARAHAN: Shoppers at Aiman Mall here paused between their errands as firefighters from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 2 Sarawak demonstrated fire safety techniques as part of the launch of Ops Siaga Raya today.

The event, held in conjunction with a fire safety awareness campaign, involved the participation of mall management, tenants and members of the public.

Throughout the programme, firefighters shared practical tips on fire prevention through a safety talk while visitors had the opportunity to view emergency equipment displayed by the Rapid Intervention Motorcycle (RIM) unit.

A live fire extinguishing demonstration also drew the attention of onlookers, while Bomba’s K9 unit entertained visitors with a short demonstration that quickly became a highlight of the event.

Zone 2 chief, PgKB II Gawai John, later presented goodies to members of the public and tenants at the mall as part of the department’s effort to spread fire safety awareness within the community.

The programme forms part of Bomba’s preparations ahead of the festive season, when increased activities at homes and business premises may heighten the risk of fire incidents.
