KAPIT: A semi-permanent house was destroyed in a fire at Kampung Baru, Jalan Abang Sulaihi here early Saturday morning (Mar 14).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from the Kapit station were deployed after receiving an emergency call at 12.50 am.
Upon arrival, the team found the house already engulfed in flames.
“The fire involved a semi-permanent house measuring about 20 by 30 square feet, which was destroyed, and spread to the roof of a nearby surau, causing about 20 per cent damage,” Bomba said in a statement.
Firefighters carried out extinguishing works using a 200-foot hose line with two nozzles, drawing water from a nearby fire hydrant.
No casualties were reported.
The cause of the fire and the estimated losses are still under investigation.
The operation concluded at 2.56 am.
