SIBU: Members of the public, especially the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) leavers, are invited to listen to a talk on Micro-Credentials during Methodist Pilley Institute (MPI) Open Day on March 28.

Micro-Credentials can be another alternative pathway to tertiary education for students who do not meet the entry requirements for Diploma programmes.

According to MPI, it is also an opportunity for school leavers to experience the daily life of a college student and prepare them for college in advance.

“Micro-Credentials are also beneficial for working adults by allowing them to learn specific skills and knowledge for their career and professional development.

“The talk will be from 10 am until 10.30 am at Gail Pilley Library (Block A, Level 3). The talk is held in conjunction with MPI’s Open Day which will start at 9 am until 3 pm.

“During the open day, students and parents will have the chance to meet the lecturers to understand the courses offered at MPI,” said a press release issued by MPI on Wednesday.

All school leavers with SPM, Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) and Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) are encouraged to visit the campus during the open day.

There will also be information on scholarships, loans, and aptitude tests for students to find courses that suit them.

Programmes available at MPI include ACCA, ACCA Foundation in Accountancy, Diploma in Accounting, Diploma in Taxation, Diploma in Social Work, Diploma in Business Management, Diploma in Computer Science, Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Diploma in Nursing, Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Finance and Investment, Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Accounting, Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (Hons), MUET, and Intensive English.

On the same day, MPI’s Social Work Department is also organising the World Social Work Day 2026 featuring a seminar by two social work experts, namely, Dr Ling How Kee and Gill Raja, and Medical Social Work from Sibu Hospital Florida Mathew Maris at Lecture Hall 2 from 9 am until 12 noon.

Apart from that, there will also be a Community Bazaar and Social Impact Fair 2026 which will start at 8 am.

For more information, contact MPI at 084-322268, or send a WhatsApp enquiry message to 011-55568806, or access its website (www.pilley.edu.my) and social media platforms.
