MIRI: A crocodile measuring about 2.5 metres was captured inside an unoccupied house under construction here, today.
The reptile, identified as a “buaya katak” or estuarine crocodile, was discovered by a member of the public who alerted authorities after spotting it inside the partially built structure.
The house, which is not yet inhabited, is located within an active construction area.
A four-member team from the Civil Defence Force’s wildlife capture unit, known as Skuad Charlie, was deployed to the scene. The operation was led by Corporal (PA) Mariani Eddy.
Officials said the team secured the animal without incident. No injuries were reported, and there was no damage to nearby properties.
