SIBU: Service centre representatives of Pelawan assemblyman, Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, recently came to the aid of a young couple with a baby, who is around six months old, after they were stranded at the Sibu Central Market.

The matter reached the attention of the service centre after a concerned member of the public made a call to the centre as the dire situation of the family-of-three raised concern among the public.

Upon receiving the report, a team from the service centre immediately went to the location to assess the situation.

According to statement from the Pelawan service centre on Wednesday (April 1), it was later discovered that the couple was from Mukah and had previously travelled to Sibu for their baby’s medical treatment at Sibu Hospital.

However, after being discharged, they were unable to return home due to financial difficulties and lack of funds, forcing them to remain temporarily in the town area.

The Pelawan service centre promptly extended assistance by helping the couple get in touch with their relatives.

With proper coordination, a family member eventually came to pick them up, enabling the couple and their baby to return home safely.

“We will continue to uphold our commitment to serving the community and paying attention to the needs of vulnerable groups.

“The public is also encouraged to report similar cases so that timely assistance can be provided, in order to build a more caring and compassionate society in Sibu,” the statement added.
