SIBU: The Sarawak Family Planning Association (SFPA) Sibu Branch has appointed Imelda Amelia Billie as chairperson at its 61st AGM, reaffirming efforts to strengthen reproductive health services and community outreach.
Dr John Tang Ing Ching, the outgoing chairman, was named honorary adviser.
Held at Medan Hotel along Jalan Wong King Huo, the AGM gathered about 50 committee members, general members and staff to review the branch’s achievements and outline priorities for the coming term.
In her address, Amelia expressed appreciation to volunteers and partners for their continued support, stressing that stronger commitment and clearer communication would be key to expanding the association’s outreach and impact in the community.
Branch secretary Wong Lee Lee said the association has remained a trusted provider of reproductive and preventive healthcare services despite increasing competition.
“Our focus remains not only on delivering reliable clinical services and a comprehensive range of contraceptive methods that meet the community’s needs, but also on providing professional blood testing and vaccination services to ensure residents have access to affordable preventive care,” she said.
She added that the association will continue strengthening Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) education and general health awareness programmes, particularly among youth, to help them make informed life decisions.
The AGM concluded with a talk on contraceptive methods and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), reinforcing the branch’s ongoing public health advocacy efforts.
Other office-bearers for the 2026 term are Hamidah Rapaee (vice-chairperson) and Kevin Wong Kiung Kion (treasurer). Committee members are Liu Kuei Feng, Anisysha Anita Suppi and Noorashikin Sarakawi.
Additional honorary advisers are Datuk Dr Soon Choon Teck and Datin Judy Lau Kung Ee.
For the branch youth committee, Nurul Azwa Abdul Rahman was elected chairperson and Faris Danial Chiong vice-chairperson. Mohd Farish Aqasha Mohd Khairy Henary serves as secretary and Fuji Shim Fu Ji as treasurer, with Aerisya Rifhan Mohamad Hasnin, Nur Syamimi Abdullah Jefferi, Nouvelle Tra Elvis and Andry Gundi Kendawang as committee members.
