MIRI: Mobile service initiatives are improving grassroots access to government assistance in Piasau by helping residents apply for key welfare schemes without visiting offices.

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew said the approach has proven effective in speeding up application processes while ensuring targeted groups are not left out from receiving government support.

Ting, who is also Piasau assemblyman, said engaging communities directly allows faster feedback from the public and enables prompt follow-up action.

“Through this mobile service initiative, we can help residents resolve matters more easily, while also giving them the opportunity to voice their needs directly,” he said when attending the programme at Hong Bing Coffee Cafe here on Sunday.

Among the services provided were assistance with applications for the Senior Citizen Health Benefit (SCHB), welfare facilities under the Kad Kenyalang Gold, as well as guidance on Sarawak Pass and the S Pay Global application.

He added that the initiative, held regularly, reflects the government’s continued commitment to ensuring assistance reaches communities in an inclusive and comprehensive manner.

The programme also served as a platform to strengthen ties between leaders and the community, while enhancing the effectiveness of policy implementation and service delivery on the ground.
