MIRI: For father of two, Gimme Immanuel Billy, the decision to join a licensed e-hailing platform was not just about income, but a strategic move to safeguard his family’s future following a major health crisis.

The Miri-based driver, who recently underwent surgery to remove his gall bladder, credited the legal framework and insurance protections provided by Maxim E-hailing as the key factors in his physical and financial recovery.

“I specifically looked for a legal company. Only by working with a legal service can you receive insurance coverage, a stable income, and proper protection,” Gimme said, noting that his doctors had strictly forbidden heavy physical labour post-operation.

Gimme emphasised that operating within a regulated environment provides a safety net that “grey” or unlicensed schemes cannot match.

He noted that the transparency of a legal platform allowed him to manage his health without the stress of legal uncertainty.

“When you work legally, you feel more secure because you know the law is there to protect you.

“Everything is transparent, and that gives me the confidence to take care of my health,” he added.

The flexibility offered by the platform has been instrumental in his transition back to the workforce.

Gimme is able to adjust his shifts based on his daily physical strength, ensuring he provides for his family without overexerting himself.

“A legal company doesn’t push you beyond your limits. I have the right to choose rides and take a rest when I need to.

“Health comes first – if I lose my health, I won’t be able to work at all,” he explained.

Encouraging other drivers to prioritise legitimacy over shortcuts, Gimme advised that the initial paperwork required for legal e-hailing is a small price to pay for long-term security.

“Don’t fall for grey schemes. Legality means protecting your health, your family, and your peace of mind. It safeguards your future for years to come,” he said.

Maxim currently operates in full compliance with Malaysian regulatory requirements across all states, including Sarawak and Sabah, providing a regulated ecosystem for thousands of partner-drivers like Gimme.
