DEBAK: Saribas has received RM200 million in development allocations under the Betong Divisional Development Authority (BDDA) to accelerate infrastructure and socio-economic growth across the constituency.

Deputy Minister for Community Well-being Development, Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam, said the allocation reflects the Sarawak Government’s commitment to strengthening development planning in Betong Division through regional development agencies.

“With the establishment of BDDA, Saribas alone has received RM200 million for development implementation,” he said during the ‘Pemimpin Bersama Rakyat’ programme today.

He added that additional allocations have also been approved for the proposed Lubok Tamang Agropark project and supporting infrastructure in the surrounding area.

According to him, the agropark involves RM53 million in project funding, with a further RM60 million allocated for related infrastructure development nearby, bringing the total to about RM113 million.

Razi said the project is expected to create employment opportunities for local residents while strengthening agricultural productivity and the rural economy in Saribas.

He noted that the establishment of regional development authorities such as BDDA has enabled more coordinated implementation of infrastructure, settlement and economic projects, particularly in rural areas.

The continued investment, he said, demonstrates the state government’s efforts to ensure balanced development across Sarawak, including constituencies such as Saribas.
