DARO: A local man was found safe after going missing in a forest behind Kampung Bawang Matu while searching for wild honey yesterday (Apr 20).

The 44-year-old had ventured into the jungle at around 9am but later became disoriented and unable to find his way out.

Later at 3pm, he informed a friend that he was unable to find his way out of the forest.

Firefighters from Daro station together with the police and Civil Defence Force (APM) then mounted a search and rescue (SAR) operation to look for him.

However, about 150 metres into the forest, the victim had been located by villagers near an exit point, about 84 metres from where he had initially entered.

Rescuers proceeded to the location and brought the man out safely.

He was given initial treatment at the scene before being transported to Daro Hospital for further medical attention.
