MIRI: Anticipation builds at Miri Stadium as final preparations for the ‘Sarawakku Sayang’ programme draw early crowds and lively participation.

Under the late afternoon sun, workers moved with quiet urgency across the grounds of Miri Stadium, putting finishing touches to booths, stages and walkways as the venue steadily transformed into a vibrant hub of activity.

Even before the official opening, many visitors – particularly those from around Miri City – have begun streaming in, curious to explore what is on offer.

Families, youngsters and civil servants were seen strolling between tents, some pausing to ask questions while others took in the colourful displays.

At the heart of the venue lies a sprawling exhibition featuring 43 participating agencies, collectively offering 147 services.

From government assistance counters to interactive showcases, the booths reflect a coordinated effort to bring public services closer to the people.

Exhibitors were busy arranging materials, testing equipment, and rehearsing presentations, while volunteers guided early visitors and ensured smooth crowd movement.

The atmosphere, though still in preparation mode, already carried a festive undertone.

As dusk approaches, attention shifts to the cultural stage where the ‘Malam Budaya’ event will be staged tonight (Apr 24).

The excitement is set to continue tomorrow night (Saturday, April 25) with the much-anticipated ‘Koncert Rakyat’, promising an evening of lively performances and entertainment for visitors of all ages.

With crowds already trickling in ahead of schedule, the ‘Sarawakku Sayang’ programme here is shaping up to be more than just an event – it is fast becoming a gathering point for community engagement, cultural expression and public service outreach.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will officiate the second ‘Sarawakku Sayang’ programme here tomorow (Saturday).
