KUCHING: The Social Security Organisation (PERKESO), in collaboration with Sarawak Centre of Performance Excellence Sdn Bhd (SCOPE), will organise the MYFutureJobs x GETS-WRP Career Fair 2026 on May 20 at Pustaka Negeri Sarawak.

The career fair, themed ‘Your Career Starts Here’, will run from 9am to 5pm and targets unemployed graduates, final-year students, and job seekers looking to enhance their prospects through direct job matching.

Sarawak PERKESO regional chief Dr Belinda Lim Kim Moi said the collaboration leverages the MYFutureJobs platform, a national artificial intelligence (AI)-driven job portal that matches job seekers with verified employers and vacancies.

“The platform connects job seekers with employers in a more transparent and efficient manner.

“We not only verify job vacancies, but also assist in matching candidates before, during and after the career fair,” she was quoted as saying by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS).

Dr Belinda pointed out that the data-driven approach helps reduce issues such as job mismatch and skill mismatch, which are common among graduates.

“Through a comprehensive talent database, we help employers identify suitable candidates, while job seekers receive guidance including interview preparation, career counselling and upskilling programmes,” she said.

Meanwhile, SCOPE chief executive officer Joseph Lim Jit Sek said the fair is expected to offer at least 249 job vacancies so far, with the number likely to increase closer to the event.

He also said participating sectors include services, finance, energy, oil and gas, manufacturing, construction and other industries.

“This platform allows graduates to engage directly with employers, attend on-the-spot interviews and gain industry exposure,” he said.

Lim also encouraged graduates to begin their careers even if the job is not their ideal choice.

“There is no perfect job at the start. What matters is to begin somewhere, as experience will open more opportunities in the future,” he said.

In addition to job opportunities, visitors can register on-site for the Graduate Enhancement Training Sarawak – Workplace Readiness Programme (GETS-WRP), which offers skills training, allowances and industry exposure to enhance employability and reduce unemployment in the state.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend the fair with their resumes to participate in walk-in interview sessions with prospective employers.
