KUCHING: Around 300 gymnasts and delegates from across Malaysia have showcased their talent and development at the AGG Carnival Sarawak 2026 and MAGGA National Series 1 over the weekend.
Held at Dewan Sa’ati, SUPP Headquarters from Apr 25 to 26, the two-day event was organised by the Sarawak Aesthetic Group Gymnastics Association (SAGGA) in collaboration with the Malaysia Aesthetic Group Gymnastics Association (MAGGA).
The carnival featured grassroots programmes alongside national-level competition, bringing together gymnasts from various levels, including young athletes taking their first steps into aesthetic group gymnastics.
Competition events included the National AGG Development (NAD) Individual Grading, NAD Group Competition and IFAGG programme events, alongside workshops conducted by the Malaysian Junior Team and Malaysian Mixed Junior Team.
Participation from Sarawak-based teams reflected the sport’s growing presence in the state, with local clubs including Mine Dance Studio, Spade Rhythm AGG Club and Track and Dance securing top finishes in several categories.
For many of the younger participants, the carnival offered exposure to larger-scale competition and opportunities to perform alongside more experienced athletes from across the country.
Political Secretary to the Premier Kho Teck Wan, representing Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, said the carnival provided an important platform for Sarawak gymnasts to gain competitive experience while welcoming athletes from across Malaysia to Kuching.
