KUCHING: Newly crowned National Qariah Champion Nur Syakura Mohamad Musa has paid a courtesy call on Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and presented her victory trophy at Astana Negeri Sarawak here on Wednesday.
Nur Syakura was recently named champion of the Majlis Tilawah dan Hafazan Al-Quran Peringkat Kebangsaan 1447H/2026M, ending a 17-year drought for Sarawak in the national qariah category.
The meeting, held at the Main Audience Room of Astana Negeri Sarawak, lasted about an hour and highlighted the state’s pride in her achievement on the national stage.
It also served as an occasion to convey appreciation for the Sarawak government’s continued support in strengthening Islamic development efforts and nurturing talented qari and qariah representatives.
The victory carried added significance for Nur Syakura as it came during her sixth appearance in the competition since making her debut in 2017.
Accompanying her during the visit was Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, Kuching North City Commission and Islamic Affairs) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi and his wife Datin Siti Shorgayah Ahmad Zaidel.
