KUCHING: A land survey worker, who fell ill while inside a mangrove forest at Kampung Tanjung Bako, was safely rescued by firefighters today (April 29).
The victim was among a group of seven personnel conducting work in the mangrove area when he began experiencing stomach pain.
Efforts by his colleagues to bring him out proved difficult due to exhaustion, prompting them to seek assistance from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).
Firefighters from the Tabuan Jaya station were dispatched to the scene, about 20 kilometres away, following a distress call at 2:19 pm.
Upon arrival, the team performed the rescue operations and worked together with the survey team.
Rescuers managed to carry the victim out of the mangrove forest to the riverbank.
He was then transported by boat to the Kampung Tanjung Bako jetty and taken to the nearest hospital for further treatment.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the operations ended at 3:40 pm.
