BAU: A total of RM145,000 in corporate social responsibility (CSR) contributions was channelled to 13 entities in the Tasik Biru constituency on Wednesday (April 29).
The CSR cheque presentation, organised by the Land and Survey Department (JTS) Kuching Division, was held at the Bau District Office Complex and officiated by Deputy Minister for Transport (Riverine and Sea), who is also Tasik Biru assemblyman, Datuk Henry Harry Jinep.
The contributions are aimed at supporting grassroots development, spanning places of worship, schools and community associations.

Henry reminded recipients to utilise the funds responsibly in accordance with JTS guidelines to ensure meaningful impact.
Under the places of worship category, Surau Al-Baraqah Kampung Seberang Buso, St Stephen Catholic Church Bau, Masjid Darul Ikhsan Kampung Buso and St Thomas Apostle Church Kampung Skiat Baru each received RM10,000.
For education, SMK Bau, SK Buso, SJKC Chung Hua Buso, SJKC Chung Hua Sebuku, SJKC Chung Hua Musi and SJKC Chung Hua Tondong each received RM12,500.
Meanwhile, the Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) of Kampung Skiat Baru, Kampung Buso and Kampung Seberang Buso each received RM10,000.
In a separate event at the Bau District Agriculture Office compound, 48 ‘Program Fasiliti Pertanian’ (AFF) participants received one-off agricultural inputs, including fertilisers and pesticides, aimed at boosting productivity in pepper and oil palm cultivation. The symbolic handover was also officiated by Henry.
He said since the programme’s implementation in 2019, a total of 2,128 residents in Tasik Biru have benefitted from the initiative, which covers agriculture, inland fisheries, agro-based industries and livestock, with an overall allocation of RM4 million from the Sarawak Government.
“I hope this assistance will help ease the burden on recipients, especially with rising fertiliser and pesticide costs driven by increasing oil and gas prices amid global uncertainties,” he said as reported by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS).
