KUCHING: Seventeen foreigners were detained in an early morning enforcement sweep targeting workers’ quarters and rented rooms across the city yesterday (May 1).
Sarawak Immigration Department said the operation led to the arrest of 16 Indonesian nationals and a Pakistani man, all of whom were found without valid travel documents.
A team of 28 enforcement officers carried out coordinated checks at several locations identified as foreign settlements.
The sweep formed part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on immigration offences and ensure compliance with existing laws.
