KUCHING: Big Grain Group continued its commitment to community service through its Blood Drive and Charity Fest, held at SJK Chung Hua No. 2 here in collaboration with the Sarawak General Hospital Blood Bank and several charity organisations today (May 2).

The initiative has grown into an annual corporate social responsibility (CSR) flagship for the group, following two successful editions in 2025 that strengthened its commitment to continue the programme.

The first edition for 2026 saw more than 100 members of the public participating, with 80 successful blood donations recorded.

Blood donation plays a critical role in saving lives during emergencies and supporting patients with serious medical conditions such as leukaemia, thalassaemia, bleeding disorders and those undergoing major surgeries.

The charity segment involved Hope Place, SOS Kids, Persatuan Amal QC, Muhandis Prihatin Sarawak and PERKATA Special School, which received contributions from the public in the form of food items, dry goods, milk powder, stationery, baby and adult diapers, and usable clothing.

SJK Chung Hua No. 2 principal Siew Kung Ling expressed pride in the school being selected as the venue for the programme.

“We are honoured to be part of an initiative that contributes to community wellbeing and supports life-saving efforts,” he said.

Big Grain Group representative and event coordinator Tristan Lai expressed appreciation to donors, volunteers, co-sponsors Choon Eng Sarawak and Compuway Marketing, and the wider community for their support.

“The encouraging response from the public reflects the growing awareness of the importance of blood donation and community support,” he said.

Looking ahead, Big Grain Group announced that the next edition of the Blood Drive and Charity Fest is scheduled for Dec 5, 2026 in continued collaboration with the Sarawak General Hospital Blood Bank.

The public is encouraged to stay tuned to Big Grain Group’s official channels for updates on the next location and upcoming initiatives.
