KUCHING: Narcotics police have rounded up 30 individuals following a sweep of entertainment centres in the city that uncovered widespread drug use last Friday (May 1).
Personnel from the district police headquarters, Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) and the Sarawak contingent carried out the operation under Ops Pusat Hiburan.
Between 12.15 am and 1 am, the team raided four entertainment outlets in a coordinated operation.
Kuching police chief Alexson Naga Chabu said initial urine screening found 30 individuals tested positive for various types of drugs.
“Six suspects have been remanded for one day, while the remaining 24 are under three-day remand orders to facilitate investigations.

“This success was the result of continuous intelligence gathering and cooperation from the public,” he said, adding that police will not compromise with anyone involved in drug-related activities.
Possessing, distributing or protecting drug-related activities are serious offences under the law.
Alexson stated that the NCID remains committed to combating drugs to safeguard both present and future generations.
Members of the public are urged to channel information through Bukit Aman NCID’s hotline at 012-2087222 or Sarawak NCID’s hotline at 017-5929211.
