KUCHING: Five people have been injured in two separate accidents involving multiple vehicles in the early hours of today (May 3).

The first crash, involving a Toyota Vios and a Proton Saga, occurred around midnight along Jalan Datuk Stephen Yong near the Kuching City Mall commercial centre.

The driver of the Vios escaped unhurt, while three occupants of the Saga — two men and one woman — sustained injuries.

The men were pulled out of the vehicle by members of the public before firefighters from Batu Lintang station arrived.

The woman, who suffered injuries to her leg, was assisted out by firefighters with the help of medical personnel at the scene.

All three injured victims were handed over to paramedics for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the second accident, involving a Perodua Bezza, happened at around 1.15 am at the underpass of Haji Kipali Roundabout in Petra Jaya.

The crash left a 29-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman injured.

Both victims were safely removed by firefighters from Petra Jaya station before being taken to hospital for further care.

Firefighters later carried out flushing works at both scenes to clear oil spillage on the roads to ensure the safety of other road users.
