Man nabbed with 16 packets of syabu

SERIAN: A local man was arrested for alleged possession of suspected syabu along Mile 31, Jalan Kuching–Serian here today (May 3).

The 33-year-old from Simunjan was picked up at the roadside by personnel from the Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division and Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID).

Serian police chief Supt Freddy Bian Stanislaus Bian said police also seized 16 plastic packets containing 5.12g of syabu from the suspect.

Initial urine screening found him positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.

The case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

In light of this, Freddy advised the public to stay away from drug abuse as stern action will be taken against those involved, with heavier penalties for repeat offenders.

Members of the public are also urged to cooperate with the police by providing information on drug-related activities in the district.
