BINTANGOR: A local man succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment following a collision involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck yesterday (May 5).
The accident occurred at around 5.10pm along Jalan Lasi here.
Meradong police chief DSP Tansli Mering said initial investigations found that the victim was riding from Jalan KJD when the pickup truck travelling from Jalan Lasi allegedly lost control while navigating a bend.
“The vehicle is believed to have veered into the opposite lane before crashing into the victim’s motorcycle.
“The victim, identified as 24-year-old Brahim Jika from Pakan, was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at Julau Polyclinic,” he said.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Witnesses or individuals with information, including dashcam footage, are urged to come forward to assist investigations by contacting investigating officer Insp Mohd Zainal Abdul Ghafar at 011-11945095.
