SARIKEI: The Tanjung Manis–Sarikei Bridge which was completed last year has become a key catalyst for local economic growth.
It has improved market access, stimulating business activities, and creating more income opportunities for residents.
Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii said the strategic infrastructure project has had a significant impact on area development by enhancing connectivity and attracting investors as well as visitors.
“The implementation of this high-impact project reflects the Sarawak government’s continued commitment to strengthening rural development through the provision of sustainable and competitive infrastructure,” he said at the Dragon Boat Festival celebration organised by the Kwong Wai Siew Association at Jalan Kwong Ming/Minah recently.
He added that infrastructure development not only improves the quality of life but also accelerates overall local economic growth.
At the same time, he emphasised the important role of community organisations such as the Kwong Wai Siew Association in fostering unity and serving as a bridge between the people and the government.
“Associations play a vital role in bringing communities together and acting as a link between the people and the government,” he said.
At the event, he also presented a contribution of RM10,000 to the Kwong Wai Siew Association in support of its community activities.
