BAU: Two local men tested positive for drugs in separate arrests carried out by the district’s Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) on Thursday (May 7).
Bau police chief Act Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the first suspect, a 22-year-old contract labourer, was detained by the roadside at Kampung Serikin at about 2pm.
He said the suspect handed over a transparent plastic packet containing a crystalline substance believed to be syabu, weighing 0.32 gram.
“Initial urine screening found the suspect positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine,” he said.
The second suspect, a 34-year-old unemployed man, was detained at the NCID office at Bau police headquarters (IPD) at about 3.20pm.
“He also tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine during an initial urine screening,” he added.
Both suspects are being held at the Bau police station lock-up to assist investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
