KAPIT: A local man in his 60s was arrested over the theft of cement bags in an incident reported on May 4.
Kapit police chief DSP Rohana Nanu said the suspect was detained on Wednesday (May 6) at a parking area in Kapit town following information received.
She said police seized two cement bags and a vehicle believed to have been used during the incident.
“The suspect has been remanded at the Kapit police station lock-up to assist investigations,” she said in a statement.
The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to seven years, a fine, or both upon conviction.
Rohana also advised the public to remain vigilant and safeguard their belongings to prevent opportunities for crime, while urging those with information to come forward to assist police investigations.
