SERIAN: Two Indonesian men were injured after a sports utility vehicle (SUV) collided with a five-tonne lorry near Kampung Sungai Engkabang junction along the Pan Borneo Highway on Saturday (May 9).
The accident occurred at around 4 pm involving a Toyota Fortuner carrying three occupants and a lorry driven by a local man.
Firefighters from Serian station were deployed to the scene, about 27 kilometres away, after receiving an emergency call.
No rescue operations were required as no one was trapped in the wreckage and all managed to exit their vehicles with the help of members of the public before rescuers arrived.
The driver of the Toyota Fortuner, a 56-year-old local woman, escaped unhurt while her two male passengers, both Indonesians, suffered minor injuries.
The lorry driver, a 57-year-old local man, was also unharmed.
Paramedics administered initial treatment at the scene before the injured victims were taken to a nearby hospital.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the operation ended at 5.20pm.
