SARAWAK is now entering a critical phase in realising its Post-COVID Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030) agenda through the implementation of the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK-13).
Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said PCDS 2030 continues to serve as the roadmap guiding the state’s development towards becoming a developed, sustainable and high-income region.
“The remaining years leading up to 2030 must be fully utilised to ensure all planned policies and initiatives can deliver tangible benefits to Sarawak and its people.
“Continued emphasis must be placed on the development of high-value industries to strengthen the state’s economic competitiveness,” he said this in his opening speech at the First Meeting of the Fifth Term of the 19th State Legislative Assembly (DUN) today.
High-value industrial development, digital transformation, clean energy, green economy as well as human capital development are among the key sectors that require continued attention in supporting Sarawak’s long-term economic resilience.
Wan Junaidi said these efforts would help attract both domestic and foreign investors to the state.
“More efficient coordination and implementation between ministries and agencies are equally important to ensure initiatives can be carried out faster and in a more organised manner.
“Every programme and initiative introduced should be capable of delivering high-impact results for the state,” he said.
Wan Junaidi also recorded his appreciation to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for his successful recent working visit to the United Kingdom and Ireland.
“The visits had opened up opportunities in new economic development, strategic cooperation in high-technology sectors, future investments, digital economy and human capital development.
“It also reflects the Sarawak government’s commitment to continue exploring high-value sectors while strengthening the state’s position in the global economic and technology ecosystem,” he said.
