The rise of cyber threats and fake news in today’s borderless digital era requires greater responsibility from all parties in the use of social media and digital platforms.

Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said threats to public safety have become increasingly complex following rapid digital advancement.

“All parties must play their role in ensuring digital platforms are used responsibly to preserve peace and unity among the people.

“At the same time, law enforcement efforts must continue to be strengthened to ensure public safety and order remain well maintained,” he said this in his opening speech at the First Meeting of the Fifth Term of the 19th State Legislative Assembly (DUN) today.

The irresponsible use of social media and digital platforms could affect harmony within society if left unchecked.

Hence, effective enforcement is important in safeguarding public peace amid evolving security challenges in the digital age.
