KOTA SAMARAHAN: A 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a three-vehicle collision along Jalan Kota Samarahan-Stutong Bypass here on Monday (May 11).
The accident, involving a motorcycle and two cars, occurred at around 9.30 pm.
Acting Kota Samarahan police chief DSP Barry William said initial investigations found that the victim was believed to have been overtaking dangerously while travelling towards Kota Samarahan when he collided head-on with a car driven by a 20-year-old man coming from the opposite direction.
“The victim was later struck by another car driven by a 36-year-old man who could not avoid the collision in time.
“As a result, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics,” he said.
His body was taken to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for a post-mortem examination.
Barry said both car drivers escaped unhurt in the accident.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
