SARATOK: A local man alleged to be trafficking drugs was arrested for possessing suspected methamphetamine during ‘Ops Tapis Khas’ on Tuesday (May 12).
Based on information gathered, the district police headquarters’ (IPD) task force picked up the 32-year-old suspect in Kabong.
Saratok police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said further inspections on his sling bag led to the discovery of seven plastic packets containing crystal-like substances suspected to be methamphetamine.
“Both the suspect and the drugs, weighing around 2.7g, were taken to Saratok police station for further action.
“Initial urine screening test found the suspect positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine,” he said.
Background checks found that the suspect had one prior record related to drug abuse in 2019.
Mathew said the case is being investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
