The long-awaited construction of a permanent police station at Pekan Lachau in Sri Aman has been given the green light.
Asajaya assemblyman Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said this on behalf of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg when responding to Bukit Begunan assemblyman Datuk Mong Dagang during Q&A session.
The project has been authorised under the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Border Projects for Sabah and Sarawak, specifically within the Fifth Rolling Plan of the 12th Malaysia Plan.
“The proposed site is at Lot 1252, Block 12, Selanjan Land District, spanning 3.2 hectares of land under the Federal Lands Commissioner,” he said.
He said that the site is designated to house both administrative buildings and residential quarters for police personnel.
The Sarawak Public Works Department has been appointed as the implementing agency to oversee the project’s execution, signalling that construction planning is now firmly underway.
