KUCHING: More than 5,000 people are expected to gather in Sibu for the Sarawak Day 2026 Celebration, which will be held from July 20 to 22.
Minister for Transport, Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, said the celebration will showcase a series of all-inclusive programmes that reflect Sarawak’s identity as a harmonious multi-racial and multi-religious state.
He stressed that the involvement of community leaders, village chiefs and the public, particularly from the central region, is vital to ensuring the success of the event.
Lee said this during the Sarawak Day Celebration Main Committee Meeting No.1/2026 held here on Friday (May 15).
Among the key programmes lined up is a Sales Carnival, which will be coordinated by Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee.
An Interfaith Thanksgiving Ceremony will also be organised at Kingwood Hotel under the coordination of Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil.
Meanwhile, the Zumba and Unity programme at Dataran Tun Tuanku Haji Bujang will be coordinated by Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee.
A Thanksgiving Ceremony at Masjid An-Nur and a townhall session at Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud Chancellor Hall are also scheduled to take place.
The programmes will be coordinated respectively by Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman), Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya, and Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS), Datuk Abdullah Saidol.
The highlight of the celebration, featuring the Sarawak Day Assembly and Konsert Rakyat, will be handled by Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, Datuk Len Talif Salleh.
