THE Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak (MEITD) has distributed 60 sets of LEGO robotics kits to all 30 District Education Offices (PPD) across Sarawak.

Its Minister Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn said the initiative aims to strengthen hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) learning at the grassroots level.

He said the kits were distributed through the State Education Department (JPNS) in April, with selected primary and secondary schools in each district receiving them as part of structured STEM enrichment activities.

“This RM300,000 investment reflects the Sarawak government’s strong commitment to equipping students with essential skills and tools for future innovation,” he said.

He said this in his ministerial winding up speech at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here today (May 18).

Sagah added that Sarawak students also recorded impressive achievements in the international drone innovation arena through their participation in the Hong Kong International Drone Competition held in January this year.

He said more than 200 international teams took part in the competition, with Sarawak teams emerging among the top performers.

“These achievements highlight the technical competence, creativity, and competitiveness of Sarawak students on the global stage, including participation from rural students, reflecting the inclusivity of Sarawak’s STEM development agenda,” he said.
