KAPIT: Community organisations and local committees in Kapit received a total of RM110,000 in financial assistance to support various community-based programmes and grassroots activities.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the aid was aimed at assisting the implementation of programmes and local initiatives that would directly benefit the people in the area.

“The assistance is channelled to support the implementation of various community programmes, social activities and local needs that directly benefit the rakyat,” he said in a statement posted on Facebook following the cheque presentation ceremony.

Among the recipients were the Kelab Rando Pejabat Residen Kapit for the Lab RTP programme held in Miri last month, the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) for Hari Raya Korban preparations including the purchase of cattle, the Bazaar Committee for the organisation of a bazaar, as well as the JKKK Nanga Plak Bena for its ‘mangkong tiang’ programme scheduled on June 3.

In addition, Nanta, who is also Kapit MP, said an extra allocation of RM30,000 was also presented to the Kelab Rando Pejabat Daerah Kapit.

He expressed hope that the assistance would help facilitate the planning and implementation of programmes organised by each recipient, while also strengthening cooperation between community leaders, local committees and residents in Kapit.

“As the Member of Parliament for Kapit, I will continue to pay attention to the needs of the people and support community initiatives that bring positive impact to social development and the wellbeing of the community,” he added.
