SARAWAK is nearing full electricity coverage through the implementation of rural electrification projects involving both grid and off-grid connections.
Utility and Telecommunication Minister Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, said the state is also intensifying efforts to further develop its energy sector by strengthening infrastructure and enhancing the use of renewable energy.

“My Ministry, through Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB), has implemented and is currently carrying out various expansion and upgrading works on the main grid system.
“These efforts are to ensure a sufficient and resilient energy supply can be transmitted and distributed to meet the increasing domestic, commercial, industrial and export demand,” he said.
He said this in his ministerial winding up speech at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here today (May 18).
Julaihi added that Sarawak now has a stable, reliable and secure main electricity grid system.
“This main grid system channels electricity generated from various renewable and thermal energy sources through transmission and distribution networks across the whole of Sarawak, from Tondong, Bau in the south to Lawas in the north,” he added.
He said these initiatives aim to ensure a stable, sustainable and inclusive energy supply in line with the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030).
