MORE than 49,000 premises have been successfully connected under the Fixed Wireless Broadband (FWB) MySRBN and MySRBN XL Home Fibre services.

Utility and Telecommunication Minister Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi said the FWB MySRBN and MySRBN XL Home Fibre services were introduced to ensure rural communities have access to stable, high-quality broadband connectivity.

He said MySRBN is among the most competitive and affordable internet service plans in Malaysia, offering users free installation and devices worth RM1,150, fully subsidised by the Sarawak government.

“Users also receive 300MB of free monthly data and may subscribe to additional plans starting as low as RM5. The government also provides a RM50 subsidy, reducing the monthly subscription fee from RM70 to only RM20,” he said.

He said this in his ministerial winding up speech at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here today (May 18).

He added that MySRBN XL is the country’s only prepaid fibre-to-the-home service, offering users flexibility without long-term contracts.

“The service is implemented by the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) together with strategic partner Borneo Restu, using part of the Point of Presence 2 (PoP 2) infrastructure, which currently covers 280 locations across Sarawak,” he said.

Julaihi added that these initiatives are part of the Sarawak government’s ongoing efforts under the digital economy agenda, led by SDEC.

“These efforts reflect the government’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and ensuring that no community is left behind in the digital economic development,” he said.
