KUCHING: Two local men were arrested after police found three dangerous weapons on a motorcycle near Samariang Commercial Centre here on Tuesday.

Kuching Police Chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, said the suspects, aged 22 and 39, were stopped around 11:00 am during a crime prevention patrol after they were seen acting suspiciously.

He said checks on the motorcycle led to the discovery of the weapons.

“Both suspects were arrested, while urine screening tests found them positive for drugs,” he said.

Further checks found that one of the suspects had three previous drug-related records.

The case is being investigated under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.

Both suspects are also being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Alexson advised the public against carrying dangerous weapons in public without reasonable grounds, warning that stern action will be taken under existing laws.
