BINTULU: The dual carriageway project from Kemena Bridge to Bintulu Airport has reached 15.34 per cent physical progress, ahead of its scheduled 12.42 per cent target as of April 2026.
The progress of the RM69.94 million project and the completed SPK Jelutong housing scheme were highlighted during a working visit today (May 23) by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
The 4.1-kilometre project, built to JKR U5 standards, is being implemented by JEB Construction Sdn Bhd under the supervision of L&P Associates, with the Divisional Engineer of Public Works Department Sarawak serving as Superintendent Officer.
Once completed, the road will connect Jepak Roundabout to Bintulu Airport Roundabout and form part of efforts to improve traffic flow and connectivity within the growing urban and industrial corridor.
Key components of the project include two P-turns, a 95-metre bridge, a spur road linking Bintulu Airport to the town centre, and upgrading works at the airport roundabout.
Abang Johari also inspected the fully completed SPK Jelutong housing project in Jepak, comprising 111 affordable housing units developed under the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA).
The development comprises 97 units under Stage 1 and 14 units under Stage 2, both of which have been fully completed with basic infrastructure and utility connections.
Stage 1 was completed in October 2025, while Stage 2 was completed on April 30, 2026.
The housing scheme includes single-storey homes with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, supported by complete infrastructure such as roads, drainage systems, street lighting, electricity, water supply, a substation and a detention pond.
However, final water connection works involving an additional booster pump system are expected to be completed by August 2026.
