SIBU: Unity within Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) remains key to maintaining political strength and stability ahead of the coming state election (PRN).

PRS Youth chief Christopher Gira Sambang said party members must continue strengthening the spirit of togetherness and move as one team to ensure the party remains strong, stable and trusted by the people.

He was speaking at the PRS Pre-Gawai Dayak 2026 programme at a local hotel here on Friday (May 22).

According to a press statement, the programme was officiated by PRS president Datuk John Sikie Tayai, who reminded members to preserve unity in facing current political challenges.

Gira stressed that PRS would only remain respected and relevant if members stayed united and avoided internal divisions.

“When we stand together, we become stronger. When we are divided, the party weakens. PRS is strong because we trust one another,” he said.

He also voiced support for the PRS president’s message that unity within PRS and GPS remained the backbone of Sarawak’s political strength.

Gira added that the party’s youth wing must adapt to the digital era by using social media platforms to deliver accurate information and counter negative perceptions against the party.

At the same time, he urged members to place the party’s struggle above personal interests to ensure PRS and GPS remain strong ahead of the state election.

“If there are differences, we discuss them. If there are problems, we solve them. But we must not bring divisions outside the party,” he said.
