SIMUNJAN: A special festive sales programme at Ayam Champion Simunjan helped residents ease financial burdens ahead of Hari Raya Aidiladha and Hari Gawai 2026.
The programme, held in conjunction with the upcoming festive celebrations, successfully provided relief to local residents as they prepared for the holiday season.
Batang Sadong Member of Parliament Rodiyah Sapiee said the initiative aimed to help the community obtain daily necessities at more affordable prices, especially amid the rising cost of living.
She said the sales programme focused on daily essentials and key ingredients for festive dishes such as chicken, meat, eggs, and various types of onions.
“We hope that through this special sales programme, we can, in one way or another, help residents ease their burden while enabling them to obtain essential goods without being overly affected by the rising cost of living,” she said in a report by UKAS yesterday (May 25).
She also praised the close cooperation with local trader Ayam Champion, describing it as an effective step in delivering direct benefits to residents in the Simunjan district.
The programme received an encouraging response, with villagers reportedly queuing as early as 6 am to purchase the necessities offered.
Seeing the positive impact and response received, Rodiyah said she planned to make the special sales programme an annual event ahead of major festive seasons in the area.
During the same programme, Rodiyah also conducted a walkabout at Pasar Tamu Simunjan and Market Lama Simunjan to observe the current situation and interact directly with traders and local residents.
The session also provided her with the opportunity to hear the views, suggestions, and issues faced by the local community.
