KUCHING: An 18 year-old teenager pleaded guilty in the Magistrates’ Court here today (May 28) to a charge of self-administering dangerous drugs last year.
She made the plea in front of Magistrate Ling Hui Chuan, where she was charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
The offence carries a fine of up to RM5,000, imprisonment of up to two years, and mandatory supervision under Section 38B of the same Act upon conviction.
The accused admitted to consuming amphetamine and methamphetamine at the Narcotic Crime Investigation Division (NCID) office at the Kuching District Police Headquarters at about 3.50 pm on Nov 8, 2025.
The court then fixed June 30 for mention pending the hearing of a social report from the Social Welfare Officer.
The court also allowed the youth to be charged a bail of RM3,000 without deposit, with two local sureties.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Afiq Safly Nor Kazly prosecuted the case. The accused was unrepresented.
