KUCHING: An 18-year-old teenager pleaded guilty in the Magistrates’ Court here today (May 28) to a charge of dishonestly retaining stolen motorcycle rims.
The boy admitted to the charge before Magistrate Ling Hui Chuan.
According to the charge, the offence was committed at about 8am on May 24 at a seafood restaurant near Jalan Pending.
He was accused of dishonestly retaining two motorcycle rims belonging to the owner, knowing or having reason to believe the items were stolen property.
The offence was framed under Section 411 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of between six months and five years, and may also include a fine, upon conviction.
The court fixed July 1 at 9am for the hearing of a social report from the Social Welfare Department (SWD).
Pending the report, the offender was released on a bail of RM3,000 without deposit with one local surety.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Afiq Safly Nor Kazly appeared for the prosecution. The accused was unrepresented.
